Learning
At Kinchela Public School, our small classes and close-knit community ensure that every child is known, valued, and cared for. We teach the NSW curriculum and place a strong focus on literacy and numeracy as the foundations for lifelong learning. Our teachers use explicit, evidence-based strategies to help students achieve their goals, with the flexibility that comes from being a small school.
Why choose us for your child’s learning?
Strong foundations
We provide the skills and confidence your child needs to succeed at school and beyond. Small class sizes mean more individualised attention, ensuring every student feels prepared for the future.
High-quality education
Our skilled teachers offer a broad range of subjects while making the most of real-world, hands-on learning. We take the time to find out what each child enjoys, and we nurture their interests so they can do their best and succeed.
Inclusive and personalised learning
As a small school, we can adapt lessons to suit each child’s learning pace, needs and interests. Every student feels included and supported, with adjustments made quickly and thoughtfully.
Extension opportunities
We challenge students who are ready for more by offering enrichment activities, open-ended tasks and leadership opportunities. Our partnerships with other Macleay Valley schools give students the best of both worlds: close personal support in a small setting and shared programs with a wider network of peers.
Our learning approach
Learning at Kinchela Public School is student-centred, inclusive and practical. We use explicit teaching so students know what they are learning, why it matters and how to achieve it step by step. Our teachers regularly take part in professional learning to keep up to date with best practice.
Our approach includes:
- real-world learning through hands-on tasks, group work and projects
- technology to build digital skills for the future
- flexible teaching that adapts quickly to each student’s needs
- community connections such as excursions and local programs that link learning to life.
At our school, students can take part in special religious education (SRE). These classes are delivered by approved providers.
When enrolling your child, you’ll be able to choose an option from the approved providers offered at our school. Students not attending SRE are given supervised alternative meaningful activities.
You’re welcome to change your choice at any time. Just let us know in writing.
