Additional learning support
At Kinchela Public School, we know every child by name. Our small school setting means staff can quickly notice changes in learning or wellbeing and respond straight away. We ensure all students, including those with disability or additional learning needs, can take part in every aspect of school life. A formal diagnosis is not needed for support—help can begin at any stage of schooling
Support that fits your child's needs
In our small classes, teachers and support staff work closely with families to create flexible support plans that build on each child’s strengths, interests, goals and cultural connections. Adjustments are tailored to suit the individual and are regularly reviewed so students continue to thrive.
Support may include:
-
small group literacy and numeracy sessions for targeted learning
-
personalised adjustments to classroom tasks and assessments
-
Aboriginal education programs and cultural connections
-
opportunities for high potential and gifted learners to be extended
-
assistive technology and accessible classroom resources
-
regular check-ins between staff, families and students
Family and community partnerships
Strong relationships with families are at the heart of our approach. We work hand-in-hand with parents, carers and community partners to plan adjustments that reflect each child’s needs and identity. Open communication means we can celebrate successes together and respond quickly if extra support is needed.
Adjustments are planned with parents and carers. They are reviewed regularly and changed when needed. If you think your child may need extra help, contact us.
