Macleay Argus: " Kinchela students' tractor ride to school after floods"
When Kinchela Public School reopened after the May floods, Year 1 students didn’t want to miss a day. With her road still underwater, she rode to school on her family's tractor.
Cheered on by staff and friends at the gate, she arrived with her baby sister and family dog by her side. To support families cut off by floodwaters, the school shared a special lunch and set up indoor games when the playground was damaged.
This moment captured the resilience and community spirit that make our small school so strong.

Yarning Circle Officially Opened at Kinchela Public School
We have proudly celebrated the official opening of our school’s Yarning Circle — a special space for connection, culture, and conversation.
Surrounded by students, staff, families, and community members, we gathered to honour the significance of yarning as a traditional practice of storytelling, listening, and learning. Our Yarning Circle is more than just a space — it’s a reflection of our commitment to cultural respect, inclusion, and deep listening.
We look forward to many meaningful conversations in this space for years to come.
Annual Easter and Halloween Community Disco
At Kinchela Public School, our annual Halloween Disco and Easter Disco are much-loved traditions that bring our small school and community together. Students, families and friends join us for dancing, games and plenty of themed fun.
From the spooky excitement of the Halloween Disco—complete with our famous “Spooky Room” decorated with student artwork—to the colourful celebrations of the Easter Disco filled with festive decorations and treats, these events are highlights of our school year.
Both discos showcase the strong community spirit of Kinchela PS and create joyful memories that our students will always remember.
